Immunization

Increasing & sustaining immunization levels of all residents in New York State

Areas of focus include:

  • Coordinate and provide support to the efforts of Local Health Departments (LHDs) to increase and sustain immunization levels of county residents 0-18 years of age with a focus on those 0-35 months of age.
  • Coordinate regional educational activities to promote adult immunization with an emphasis on improving annual influenza vaccination rates.

Program initiatives are designed to:

  • Facilitate training and education to LHD immunization staff with an emphasis on sharing best practices, and current with both state policy and national recommendations and trends.
  • Increase inter-county activities; maintenance of regular communication among consortium members; increased county immunization-related activity; and share successful strategies.

NYSACHO’s Immunization Action Plan project aims to increase and sustain immunization levels of all residents in New York State.

NYSACHO’s vaccine equity work includes training to increase immunizations in priority populations and multi-language communication resources for use on social media and with other outreach.

The Vaccines For Children (VFC) Program The Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program helps provide vaccines to children whose parents or guardians may not be able to afford them. This helps ensure that all children have a better chance of getting their recommended vaccinations on schedule. Vaccines available through the VFC Program are those recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). These vaccines protect babies, young children, and adolescents from these diseases.

The New York State Vaccines for Adults (VFA) Program provides vaccines at no cost to eligible adults. The vaccines are distributed to health care facilities that are enrolled as VFA providers.

NYSIIS NYSIIS is the acronym for the New York State Immunization Information System. NYSIIS is a free, web-based statewide immunization information system, also known as a registry, which maintains computerized immunization records of persons of all ages in a confidential and secure manner.
Adult Immunization Coalition Meetings The Annual Adult Immunization Coalition Meetings promote the health and well-being of adults through immunization. These coalition stands as a testament to our shared commitment to fostering a healthier New York by increasing awareness, accessibility, and understanding of adult vaccinations.
