Distinguishing Features of the Class
Performs skilled and semi-skilled nursing duties in the care of patients in homes, schools, clinics, or institutions. This is a professional nursing position requiring a high degree of competence and tact. Under the general supervisor of a Public Health Nurse of higher rank, assesses and provides skilled and unskilled nursing care when needed. Work is performed under the guidance of Public Health Nurses, and is reviewed through conference, coordinated care and evaluation of reports. May supervise technical or non-professional nursing personnel. Does related work as required.
Typical Work Activities
- Counsels individuals and families in maintaining good health through use of proper diets, rehabilitative procedures, immunization and proper personal care;
- May perform preliminary physical examinations including blood pressure, urinalysis and blood sampling

Minimum Qualification
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing PLUS a current license to practice Professional nursing in New York State.
Special Requirement
Possession of a New York State Driver’s License and a car available for use.
Salary: $83,901
